It encourages self-reliance rather than dependency. Yet as I reflect on the realities facing many young people today, I wonder whether the saying is still enough. Perhaps the challenge of our time requires a new lesson: Instead of teaching me how to catch fish, teach me how to identify opportunities to grow fish.
